King's Cathedral and Chapels was founded by Dr. James and Colleen Marocco in 1980 on the small island of Maui. In 1983 they began to expand beyond the island and became one church in many locations on multiple islands of Hawaii. In 1995 through a mighty revival, God began to expand the work throughout the Pacific Rim, in Japan, Philippines, Tahiti, Alaska, and California. The vision continued to expand through the years. Today we are currently in over 340 congregations in 17 nations.
King's Springfield recently began in November 2020 on the shoulders of Pastor Jess and Paula Gibson, Cornerstone/Venture Church that was founded in 1980. As the church transitioned the board asked Dr. Marocco to bring King's to Springfield. God confirmed and King's launched in Springfield, MO, one of four locations in Missouri. Pastor Janelle Marocco became the site pastor and has a vision to reach the world through the Springfield location.

Dr. Janelle Marocco grew up on the island of Maui, Hawaii. She graduated from Oral Roberts University with a BA in Pastoral Care and Theology. Certification with Elijah House Counseling was earned shortly after graduation. She returned home to Maui to teach at KC Maui’s Christian high school for a year; then God called her back into higher education. Within three years, she earned two Master’s Degrees in both Marriage and Family Therapy and Licensed Professional Counseling from Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield Missouri. During this time, she also served at Cornerstone Church for two years leading the Young Adult Ministry. May 2021 Pastor Janelle earned her Doctor of Ministry Degree from Assemblies of God Theological Seminary.
After moving home to Maui in 2004, Janelle was bestowed the title of Pastor, in 2006, as she oversaw two districts on Maui, Kihei and Kahului. In January 2007, she was asked to lead the Lahaina extension and reopen a previously closed KC in Kula. In 2010, God called her to Oahu to assist the growth of King’s churches by adding two new extensions, helping in worship ministry and leading the youth ministry, while teaching courses and counseling.
Great change began as she moved back to Maui in 2011 to help Dr. James Marocco as Executive Pastor at King’s Cathedral Maui. During this 5 year period, she helped to start new ministries, outreaches, extensions, lead the Maui team and coordinate numerous events.
In 2017, Pastor Janelle was entrusted with the KC Worldwide vision to increase current international extensions and raise support for World Missions. As of January 2021, KC World Wide is in 17 nations and have over 230 extensions. You can find more information at kcworldwide.org.
In December 2020, she was asked to lead a new congregation of King’s in Springfield, Missouri at the facilities of Cornerstone/Venture Church. God reminded her of the vision Cornerstone church was founded on, to be a World Outreach Center. Through King’s Springfield, Dr. Janelle desires to continue planting churches around the world and build a strong Spirit-filled church in Springfield, Missouri that will launch people into their God given purpose.
