Our foundation
What we
believe.
Our faith is rooted in Scripture, centered on Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
Foundational truths
Built on God's Word.
These sixteen doctrines are the shared biblical foundation of King's Cathedral & Chapels.
01 · The Scriptures Are Inspired
The Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired by God and are His revelation to humanity—the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:15–17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21)
02 · The One True God
The one true God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent “I AM,” Creator of heaven and earth and Redeemer of humanity. He is revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22)
03 · The Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. Scripture declares His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, substitutionary work on the cross, bodily resurrection, and exaltation to the right hand of God. (Matthew 1:23; Hebrews 7:26; Acts 2:22; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Acts 1:9–11)
04 · The Fall of Man
Humanity was created good and upright, but by voluntary transgression fell, bringing both physical death and spiritual separation from God. (Genesis 1:26–27; 2:17; 3:6; Romans 5:12–19)
05 · The Salvation of Man
Humanity's only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ, by grace. The inward evidence is the witness of the Spirit; the outward evidence is a life of righteousness and holiness. (Luke 24:47; John 3:3; Romans 10:13–15; Ephesians 2:8; Romans 8:16)
06 · The Ordinances of the Church
Water baptism by immersion is commanded for all who repent and believe in Christ as Savior and Lord. Holy Communion remembers Christ's suffering and death and expresses our sharing in His divine nature until He comes. (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:4; 2 Peter 1:4; 1 Corinthians 11:26)
07 · The Baptism in the Holy Spirit
All believers are entitled to and should earnestly seek the Father's promise of the baptism in the Holy Spirit. This experience brings power for life and service, spiritual gifts, deeper reverence, consecration, and love for Christ, His Word, and the lost. (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4–8; 1 Corinthians 12:13–31)
08 · The Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit
The baptism of believers in the Holy Spirit is witnessed by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. This is the same in essence as the gift of tongues, but different in purpose and use. (Acts 2:4; 1 Corinthians 12:4–10, 28)
09 · Sanctification
Sanctification is separation from evil and dedication to God. Through identification with Christ's death and resurrection and the power of the Holy Spirit, believers are called to live in holiness and offer every part of life to God. (Romans 12:1–2; Hebrews 12:14; 1 Peter 1:15–16; Galatians 2:20)
10 · The Church
The Church is the Body of Christ and the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for fulfilling the Great Commission. Every believer born of the Spirit is an integral part of the Church. (Hebrews 12:23; Ephesians 1:22–23; 2:22)
11 · The Ministry
A divinely called and scripturally ordained ministry has been provided by the Lord for two purposes: the evangelization of the world and the edifying of the Body of Christ. (Mark 16:15–20; Ephesians 4:1–13)
12 · Divine Healing
Divine healing is an integral part of the Gospel. Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement and is the privilege of all believers. (Isaiah 53:4–5; James 5:14–16)
13 · The Blessed Hope
The resurrection of believers who have died and their translation together with those who are alive and remain at Christ's coming is the imminent and blessed hope of the Church. (1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; Titus 2:13; 1 Corinthians 15:51–52)
14 · The Millennial Reign of Christ
The second coming includes the rapture of the saints, followed by Christ's visible return with His saints to reign on earth for one thousand years. His reign will bring the salvation of national Israel and the establishment of universal peace. (Zechariah 14:5; Revelation 1:7; 19:11–14; 20:1–6; Romans 11:26–27)
15 · The Final Judgment
There will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead are raised and judged according to their works. Those not found in the Book of Life will face everlasting punishment, which Scripture calls the second death. (Matthew 25:46; Revelation 20:11–15; 21:8)
16 · The New Heaven and the New Earth
According to God's promise, we look for a new heaven and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. (2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21–22)
